FactoryTalk products and RSLinx Enterprise share FactoryTalk capabilities of security, diagnostics, audit, and redundancy. It communicates via FactoryTalk® Live Data (our client/server communication protocol) with FactoryTalk products. RSLinx® Enterprise is your preferred data server. RSLinx Classic Lite, RSLinx Classic OEM or FactoryTalk Gateway as an application provide the ability to program controllers, flash firmware and batch sequencing. RSLinx Classic Lite can be used either as an application or service. RSLinx® Classic is the most widely-installed communication server in automation today.

This compact and powerful serial-to-Ethernet solution is ideal for applications requiring simple and easy-to-use data.
RSLINX CLASSIC FULL
It features one of the smallest form factors available, industry leading low latency, baud rates up to 230 Kbps and full modem and hardware control.
RSLINX CLASSIC SERIAL
The Digi One SP serial server provides reliable and cost-effective network connectivity for virtually any type of serial device. RSLinx Classic Lite provides the minimum functionality required. If a version of RSLinx Classic is started without the proper activation files, it runs as RSLinx Classic Lite. The RSLinx Classic version you are running appears in the title bar at the top of the main window.

RSLinx Enterprise is typically included with all FactoryTalk products so you do not need to purchase the data server separately. The DAQ machine pulls tag data from 3-4 PLC systems in the building, so I assumed Classic OEM would do the job. Now I've spoken to my boss about what license we should get.
RSLINX CLASSIC DRIVERS
A complete set of communication drivers is provided for your networking needs, including Allen-Bradley networks. Select a device and click to access a variety of integrated configuration and monitoring tools.
RSLINX CLASSIC SOFTWARE
RSLinx software provides a user-friendly graphical interface for navigating through your network. RSLinx software can support multiple software applications simultaneously communicating to a variety of devices on many different networks. To configure an Ethernet/IP Driver, launch RSLinx Classic and click Communications > Configure Drivers.RSLinx software is a communication server package that provides plant-floor device connectivity for a wide variety of applications.
RSLINX CLASSIC HOW TO
How to Configure an Ethernet Devices Driver With this driver, only devices on the same subnet as the computer, who’s IP addresses have been manually entered in the driver configuration will be available. The Ethernet Devices Driver uses a computer’s Network Interface Card to communicate with devices at specific IP addresses, rather than scanning the whole subnet. Using this driver you can discover all of the Ethernet/IP capable devices that are configured and connected to the subnet such as controllers, communication modules, PowerFlex drives, Kinetix servo drives, and PanelView Plus operator terminals. The Ethernet/IP Driver uses a computer’s Network Interface Card (NIC) to scan either a local or remote subnet for Ethernet/IP capable automation devices. Let’s look at the details of each of these drivers.

These are the Ethernet/IP driver and the Ethernet devices driver. In RSLinx Classic, there are two types of Ethernet drivers available to use to connect to a Logix 5000 system. In this article, we’ll learn how to connect to a Logix 5000 system using RSLinx Classic and an Ethernet driver. In this part of the series, we’ll learn how to use Ethernet drivers to connect to a Logix 5000 system through RSLinx Classic. In the last part of the series, we learned how to configure a USB driver in RSLinx Classic and work with devices on the network. Learn Logix is a series of articles designed to teach you everything you need to know to work with Rockwell Automation’s Studio 5000 Logix Designer and the Logix 5000 series of PLCs.
